260 TALES

260 Tales is a demonstration of how VR can be used to create new ways of learning a foreign language.

Usually, the best way to learn new skills is to do an action, and repeat it - over and over again. When learning a language, studies show that by being in an environment where that specific language is dominant will increase the learning curve exponentially.

This idea was the original inspiration for the 260 Tales concept, where we used VR to record real-life everyday scenarios taken from a teenager’s perspective: Hanging out with friends, drinking beers, girl issues, party crashers and choosing between friendships.

Our target audiences of 9th - 10th graders, are being submerged into a virtual world very much like their own- but with a twist: It was all happening in Germany, and in German (natürlich). The audience got the opportunity to practice the language in a more authentic situation. The experience was built interactively, activating the audiences to make use of their pre-existing knowledge to progress through the experience or get help by a fellow classmate.
